The Arboretum has come a long way -- transforming run-down farm land to the world's first restored prairie and native woodlands. With Aldo Leopold as its first director, the Arboretum has made history in the field of restoration ecology since it was dedicated in 1934.

Commemorative Trees
Commemorative trees are selected from existing plantings that the curator considers worthy of memorial selection. These trees have been planted long enough to demonstrate hardiness and the potential for living at least 15 years. Commemorative trees can be designated for gifts starting at the $1,000 level. Named Funds for Special Purposes
Named endowment funds are based on an initial gift of substantial size that in turn provides annual income earnings generated by investment of the principal.
