Earth Focus Day Camp
From pre-school to middle school, campers connect with nature while exploring the woodlands, prairies and wetlands of the Arboretum.
Now in its 21th year, Earth Focus Day Camp creates outstanding summer nature programs for children ages 3-14. With many different ecosystems including the oldest restored tall grass prairie in the world, the UW-Madison Arboretum provides hands-on experiences with native Wisconsin plants,
animals and habitats. Children learn how to be a positive influence on their world. Our naturalists are enthusiastic and experienced, but the real teacher is our most treasured resource, the land. Join us to be a part of this special place this summer as we learn and grow!
This year EFDC consists of five programs: Learning Together, Young
Explorers, Explorers, Young Naturalists, and Eco-Trekkers. EFDC helps children develop an understanding of how the natural world works, fosters an appreciation for nature, and nurtures a sense of wonder for the natural world as we explore the habitats, plants, and animals of the Arboretum.
Camp activities include outdoor discovery hikes and observations,
hands-on science exploration, and nature free play. Returning campers will find new and exciting experiences. Campers are encouraged to ask questions, play, share, create, discover, construct, and cooperate with each other.
Campers must come prepared to spend time outdoors. Wear long pants, hats, socks and closed-toe shoes.
Earth Focus Day Camp 2012 runs from June 12 through August 17. For more information contact Jennifer Mitchell at 608-265-5872 or mitchell5@uwarb.wisc.edu
