Earth Partnership for Schools

EARTH PARTNERSHIP FOR SCHOOLS FUNDERS

Earth Partnership for Schools (EPS) is currently funded through an Institute of Museum and Library Services multi-year grant to implement the RESTORE initiative, and the Wisconsin's ESEA Improving Teacher Quality Program to support state-wide dissemination of EPS. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Office of Environmental Education is supporting partnerships with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service across the country. The USDA Forest Service provided funding for a More Kids in the Woods Project in collaboration with Chequamegon National Forest and the Urban Connections Program. Wisconsin SEA GRANT is funding Great Lakes Earth Partnership to extend Earth partnership from the schoolyard to Lakes Michigan and Superior. Wisconsin Environmental Education Board is funding adaptation of EPS activities to woodland ecosystems.

Previous support from EPA, Howard Hughes Medical Institute, National Science Foundation, Wisconsin's Eisenhower Professional Development Program, Cudahay Foundation, Ira and Ineva Reilly Baldwin Wisconsin Idea Endowment, University of Wisconsin Center for Biology Education, Wisconsin Environmental Education Board, Friends of the Arboretum and private donors has allowed the EPS program to expand since1991.

In 2004, a regional Environmental Protection Agency grant supported supplemental professional development to enhance scientific inquiry in EPS classrooms statewide. A Wisconsin Environmental Education Board grant also supported adaptation of EPS curricular activities into a rain garden curriculum for K-12 schools.
