All events begin at the Visitor Center unless otherwise indicated.

Public Walks

Free walks take place each Sunday. We also hold an evening walk each month. Public walks offer a basic introduction to the Arboretum, and you can expect some identification of plants and animals as well as brief scientific explanations for various ecological concepts.

Family Programs

On the second Saturday of most months, we offer a two-hour, kid-friendly program that uses nature hikes, stories, crafts and activities to explore animals, plants and natural phenomena. On the second Sunday of every month, we offer a one-hour family walk with topics that are especially appealing to youngsters.

Classes

Our classes offer more in-depth coverage of topics than tours provide and explore ways humans interact with the environment, natural history, restoration and the arts.

Spring Gardens Tours

Free, informational tours of Longenecker Gardens and the the Native Plant Gardens that surround the Visitor Center are led by experts and take place from April through June, every Wednesday at 7 p.m. until dark.

Winter Trees, Spring Trees: What’s Happening on the Inside?

Sunday, February 28 • 12:30 pm – 4 pm

February family day at the Arboretum is a drop-in event where families can find the answer to the question: “What do trees do in the winter?” And with spring just around the corner “What’s happening inside a tree as the days get longer and warmer?” Learn how to identify trees in winter and make bark rubbings. A naturalist-led walk takes place from 1:30-2:30 p.m.
