Native Plant Sale Welcomes Spring
Native Plant Sale -- Saturday May 10, 2014
Celebrating 25 Years!
A tradition established by the Friends of the Arboretum, the Native Plant Sale celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2014! The sale takes place the Saturday before Mother's Day each May, offering a large crowd of enthusiastic gardeners more than 100 species of native plants suitable for a variety of soil and light conditions.
No plants are dug from the wild. All are native to the area and, once established, require minimal care. During the sale, experts are available to answer questions. Members of Friends of the Arboretum receive a discount on all purchases on plants in the tent sale on May 10th.
The 2014 Native Plant Sale takes place on May 10 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the large tents next to the Arboretum Visitor Center. We'll have native grasses; woodland, prairie and savanna plants; trees and shrubs.
Native Plant Order brochures identifying trees, shrubs, mixes and perennials for sale will be sent in the February and March issues of NewsLeaf. You may also download an order form here. The time period for ordering runs from February 1 and now has been extended to April 4, 2014. These special mixes, trees and shrubs will not be available at the tent sale on May 10. FOA members receive a discount on these native plant purchases which will be ready for pick-up on May 8. Please join us on Saturday, May 10 to find a wider variety of native plants under the big tent.
