Native Plant Sale -- Saturday May 9, 2015
The Friends of the Arboretum annual native plant sale takes place the Saturday before Mother's Day each May, offering a large crowd of enthusiastic gardeners more than 100 species of native plants suitable for a variety of soil and light conditions.
No plants are dug from the wild. All are native to the area and, once established, require minimal care. During the sale, experts are available to answer questions. Members of Friends of the Arboretum receive a discount on all purchases on plants in the tent sale on May 9.
The 2015 Native Plant Sale takes place on May 9 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the large tents next to the Arboretum Visitor Center. We'll have native grasses; woodland, prairie and savanna plants; trees and shrubs.
Native Plant Order brochures identifying trees, shrubs, mixes and perennials for sale will be inserted in the February and March issues of NewsLeaf. The 2015 order brochure will be available here for downloading on February 1, 2015. For a general idea of what will be available, click here to see last year's order form. The time period for ordering runs from February 1 through March 27, 2015. These special mixes, trees and shrubs will not be available at the tent sale on May 9. FOA members receive a discount on these native plant purchases which will be ready for pick-up on May 7. Please join us on Saturday, May 9 to find a wider variety of native plants under the big tent.
Native plant information sheets are available for the 18 native shrubs, trees and four plant mixes for prairie, savanna and rain gardens that are available to order. View Plant Information Sheets
