Arboretum Local Products Fair Encourages Shopping ‘Green’ and Local
MONDAY, OCTOBER 8, 2012The University of Wisconsin-Madison Arboretum will host its fourth annual “Close to Home: Arboretum Local Products Fair,” celebrating sustainability, recycling and locally produced goods on Sunday November 25 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Visitor Center, 1207 Seminole Highway in Madison. Admission and parking are free.
The Fair supports the Arboretum’s mission to heal and sustain the land while encouraging people to embrace Aldo Leopold’s land ethic. Last year’s event brought in more than 1,000 attendees and we expect the same attendance this year. We have 40 vendors, plus a silent auction to help support programming at the Arboretum.
Art, edibles and “green” gifts will take center stage, showcasing local enterprise and creativity that’s “Close to Home.” From locally produced chocolates, cheeses, honey, and home canned goods to handmade mittens, scarves, purses, tote bags and jewelry—along with pottery, art, skincare products and much, much more—this event is a one-stop spot for holiday shopping!
We encourage consumers to use cash or checks as preferred payment, as some of our vendors are not set up for credit card transactions.
Shoppers can also explore the Arboretum’s bookstore which features a variety of field guides, nature journals, CDs and unique nature-based items. In addition, the Friends of the Arboretum Garden Boutique will have essential tools for gardeners.
