2011 Great Lakes Earth Partnership Institutes in Wisconsin; RESTORE Institutes in Michigan and Indiana

Great Lakes Earth Partnership one-week teacher institutes will be held in three Wisconsin locations in 2011:

* Lake Superior Basin: August 1- 5 Northern Great Lakes Visitor Center, Ashland * Green Bay Fox River Basin: July 25 – 29 Fallen Timbers Environmental Center, Black Creek * Milwaukee River basin: June 20 – 24 Urban Ecology Center, Riverside Park

Great Lakes Earth Partnership Phase II, continues in 2011 funded by EPA Great Lakes Restoration Initiative, and includes a 10-day RESTORE Leadership Institute, Aug 1-5, 2011 at the Annis Water Resources Institute (AWRI), Grand Valley State U., Muskegon, MI and Aug. 8-12, 2011 at the Dunes Learning Center at the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore involving watershed, conservation and environmental education organizations and agencies and schools in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania and New York. 2011 RESTORE Institutes

Located between Lake Wingra and the West Beltline Highway at 1207 Seminole Highway, the University of Wisconsin-Madison Arboretum features the restored prairies, forests and wetlands of pre-settlement Wisconsin. This 1,260-acre arboretum also houses flowering trees, shrubs and a world-famous lilac collection. Educational tours for groups and the general public, science and nature-based classes for all ages and abilities, and a wide variety of volunteer opportunities for groups, families and individuals are available.
