Call for Artists Steinhauer Trust Gallery, University of Wisconsin-Madison Arboretum Visitor Center

The Arboretum will be accepting proposals for shows to hang in the Visitor Center gallery January through December of 2014. Deadline: March 28, 2013
The purpose of the Gallery is twofold: to celebrate Wisconsin’s natural heritage and the human connection to the land through the visual arts and to showcase the creativity and talent of artists who draw their inspiration from nature.
Due to the special nature of the Arboretum, the committee seeks work that is in concert with the Arboretum’s mission and purpose such as themes, explorations and materials that focus on plants, animals and landscapes that are native (especially to Wisconsin and/or the Midwest) and that consider the relationship between humans and the land.
Artists wishing to submit their work for our annual review are asked to send the following between February 1 and March 28. – An artist’s statement. (A resume is optional.) – A narrative explaining the focus and content of the exhibit. – A minimum of 5 and a maximum of 10 images (slides, photographs or jpegs are acceptable) of your work that reflect the content/theme/materials for the proposed exhibit. – A website or CD is preferred, with 5-10 images specific to the proposal.
