General Information
T-shirt: Registration by April 1 is required to be guaranteed a t-shirt. The t-shirts will be long-sleeve and 100% cotton.
Distance/Route: The Spring Sprint for the Arb is a 5k road race. Course Map
Cost: $25 for Adults with t-shirt, $10 for Youth with t-shirt (13-17), Child (12 and under) Free (no t-shirt). There is a $5 discount for FOA members and a $5 discount for registration with no t-shirt. FOA Membership Benefits
Awards: Awards will be given at an awards ceremony immediately following the race. Awards will be given to the overall female and male winners of the race, and the female and male winners in the following age categories:
14 and below, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 and 60 and above.
Parking: Parking at the Arboretum Visitor Center will be limited on the day of the Sprint and will require a prepaid parking permit. Permits are $5 and are available for purchase with event registration at Active.com. Cars parking at the Visitor Center should enter the Arboretum through the Seminole Highway entrance.Participants can also park in the neighborhoods surrounding the Arboretum and run or walk to the Arboretum Visitor center.
Transportation: We would like to encourage all participants to carpool or find alternative transportation to the Sprint. Participants may be dropped off at the Visitor Center. Please note: the Mills Street entrance to the Arboretum will be closed. All traffic must enter through the Seminole Highway entrance. We will have a bike corral staffed with volunteers—so please bicycle to the Sprint!
Green Aspects: Paperless registration, organic snacks, bike corral, composting of waste, water tanks rather than bottles, and all proceeds to go to the UW-Madison Arboretum to support its mission of ecological restoration and environmental education.
Packet Pickup: Early packet pickup will be at the Arboretum Visitor Center on Friday, April 13 from 4-7 p.m. Packet pickup will begin at 8:30 a.m. on April 14.
Wheelchair/Strollers: Strollers and wheelchairs are permitted in the 5k road race.
Volunteer Opportunities: The Spring Sprint for the Arb is a great event that takes many great people to make it a success. If you are one of those people, we would love to have you on our team. Please contact us at foa@uwarb.wisc.edu to register as a volunteer. Volunteer Positions include: Registration, Course Marshals, Water Station, Snack Station, and Bike Corral; there are positions available for all ages and abilities.

2012 Event News

Sarah Carlson, co-anchor at WISC-TV in Madison will be the lead runner to start the 2012 Spring Sprint. Runners and family members are invited to meet and talk with Sarah, who is an avid runner and fan of the UW-Madison Arboretum.
