Kick off Earth Week with a Green event
Saturday, April 17 - Starts at 10 a.m. at the Arboretum Visitor Center
5k Run on the road or 1 mile trail walk with naturalists
Weather: The Sprint will take place in the rain, snow or sunshine.
Awards: We will be presenting an award to the overall winner of the 5k run. Additionally we will present an award to each winner in the following age categories:
70 and above, 60 to 69, 50 to 59, 40 to 49, 30 to 39, 19 to 29, 14 to 18 and 13 and below.
*Please note the overall winner of the 5k race will not be eligible to win an age category award.
The awards will be presented at an awards ceremony immediately following the event.
T-shirt: Participants to receive a long-sleeved t-shirt. Registration by April 2, is required to be guaranteed a t-shirt.
Packet Pickup: Early packet pickup on April 16 from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the Arboretum Visitor Center. Race day packet pickup at the Arboretum Visitor Center begins at 8:45 a.m.
Day of Race Parking and Transportation: Parking at the Arboretum Visitor Center lot is by permit only on the day of the run. Parking permits are $5 each and must be ordered in advance online. No other Arboretum parking lots will be open to race participants. Parking spaces will be sold on a first come basis; there are only 50 parking spots available. Strollers: Strollers are allowed in the 5k run. They are also permitted in the nature walk. However, we would like to caution you that the trails may be uneven and wet making stroller use difficult.
Participants are encouraged to find alternative transportation to the Sprint. A bike corral will be available for bike parking. A free shuttle trolley will run from the Arboretum's Mills Street entrance to the Arboretum Visitor Center from 8:45 -9:45 am. Download a map of the Arboretum.

Waiver and Release: Click here to review the waiver and release. Please do not mail in the waiver and release. Runners and walkers will be required to sign a waiver and release at the registration table on the day of the Sprint.

Green Aspects of Race: The Spring Sprint for the Arb features online, paperless registration, encourages alternative transportation, offers all print materials on recycled paper and will be limiting waste from water and refreshments.
Proceeds from the Sprint will benefit the University of Wisconsin-Madison Arboretum currently celebrating its 75th Anniversary

Arboretum Visitor Rules:
We hope you enjoy the Arboretum's many attractions. While you are here, please obey the following regulations. Your cooperation will help protect the Arboretum's plants and wildlife as well as ongoing research projects.
For your safety, remain on trails, firelanes, lawn areas or the paved road at all times.
Use bicycles and cars on the paved drives only.
Run and ski only on designated routes.
Leave pets at home - they are prohibited on Arboretum grounds and the road through it.
In-line skates, roller skates and roller skis are prohibited throughout the Arboretum.
Do not picnic, build fires, or hunt, trap, or disturb animals.
Recreational games, radios, and portable stereos are not permitted.
Unauthorized removal of natural materials or Arboretum equipment is strictly prohibited.
